(VOA) In this year's Eritrean Shingrwa musical talent competition, Arafat Hamid won first place. Arafat won in the final round against two other finalists following a year-long competition among more than 350 contestants.
Minister of Tourism Askalu Menkerios handed out the prizes to the winners. Arafat Hamid received 80,000 Nakfa for first place, Abdu Yusuf won 50,000 Nakfa for second place and Minas Belay received 30,000 Nakfa for third place.
Tigrigna reporter Tewelde Weldegebriel talked with the first-place winner, Arafat Hamid, who wants to further the art and culture of Eritrea. Tewelde also interviewed the three judges, Barnabas Mebrahtu, Yemane Kidane and Yoel Gide.
