interesting conversation between nehbi & Vilja – nehbi, the name says it all (ab hade zey arif) but remember these are freedom fighters (have to uphold the highest moral duty & respect to their comrades) so wedi Sergenti can not be Valentino (abti geyaz gobo) but is Fretta doing the right thing is the question – why is she messing with the other guy just to win wedi sergenti b/c we all know she loves wedi sergenti but he aint ready. Reality be told nehbi could be right, men & women have used each other by sexualy taking advantage from one another – then again Temali is a movie that is teaching us what the past generation have gone thru in the fight to free Eritrea.
NIHBI,jelfaf ! wedi Sergenti is a man of principles.His love for Yorda is genuine.His is not Comsi-comsa! You can not dance into 2 weddings at the same time. If you do,then you are fake.Freta feels,Wedi Sergenti should marry her,because she is thinking that life could be short and she wants to use the opportunity right now. Wedi Sergenti,though he likes Freta, thinks for the future.He knows that his Yorda is waiting for him and firmly believes that he would be back to his love and child one day. He has a problem,but one that is solvable by being faithful to Yorda and hopeful that he would make it. That is the definition of Love .

This is one of a kind movies produced in Eritrea. I have a couple of comments to make to Isaias Tsegai.
1. I am having a little bit difficulty to understand the timing. Wedi Sergenti and Jelani went to the field in late 70's and according to the Drama it is late 80's. However, Yorda's Baby is not even a year old yet. I been wondering Tsirha's pregnany took years( I was afraid it might be Tinsi Harmaz).
2. My favorite scene is Wedi Sergenti and Fretta, that part is astonishingly wonderful.
The director
Isaias Tsegay is the Steven Spielberg of Eritrea. Mem'ba his "milenu'? That is his signature ! 'Timlai" is another great movie by this unique director.We need more folks like him

mela well i agree with your idea but i dont know if you remember last time when jelani was talking about this issue to wedi sergenti about how to settle it down wedi sergenti told him not to talk about it at all. so in that case it is not jelani to blame to but wedi sergenti coz he dont want to share his personal problem with his best friend. he just kept it inside even he was telling him that she is she just his friend . he never admit that he had the feeling for her.

I have had on the film series "Timali" very many expectations. What is the meaning of Timali? The meaning of Timali is yesterday. By the term yesterday, the author wants to draw attention to the brutality of the Ethiopian troops and the indomitable resistance of the Eritrean people. Instead, we see love stories of Wedisergenti and Freta and mass weddings. I have nothing against love stories. When we talk about the history of Eritrea, and then bring everything that has made these Derg with our people on the table. For example the history of the village Wekidiba and the history of the inhabitants of Wekidiba. Or the history of Shiebgedged. Or the history of …and … and ….
A history of love was not a dominated theme in our struggle. Our history is the heroic deed of our fathers and mothers. Please don’t boring us with the love history of individual.
I have a big respect of the author Issias Tsegai. But what he is doing in the film Timali, I can not believe that he is the author. I am very disappointed.
