Eritrean cyclist Melake Kahsai stands 1st in the 4th phase of “Tour Eritrea 2009”

Asmara, 19 December 2009 – Eritrean cyclist Melake Kahsai stood first in the 4th phase of the “Tour Eritrea 2010” cycling race that was conducted today.

In the 115 Km-long race that began in Massawa city at 9:00 p.m. and ended in Asmara at 11:00 p.m., Natnael Berhane ranked 2nd followed by Meron Russom, Isaias Woldetinsae, Bereket Yemane, Daniel Teklehaimanot, Abdul-Ati Sa’eduni from Morocco, Merhawi  Yemane, Amanuel Haile and Kenyan cyclist Chilanga Mayo, from 3rd to 10th respectively.

Also in the uphill race, Bereket Yemane with 30 points stood first, followed by Meron Russom with 28 points and Natnael Berhane with 20 points.

570 kilometers have so far been covered in the race, and that the 5th and final phase would cover the remaining 147 kilometers in the streets of the capital, Asmara, tomorrow.

Over 40 cyclists from Eritrea, Sudan, Libya, Morocco, Egypt, Kenya and Saudi Arabia are taking part in the “Tour Eritrea 2009” cycling race.
